In old ancient times Korean weddings took place in the bride's house or backyard. Arriving on a horse the groom rode on horseback to the bride's home and at the end of the ceremony took his new bride on a palanquin (horse cart) to his parents' home to live. The bride and groom wear court hanbok costumes for the wedding ceremony.
Throughout history, in the nearby countries of Asia, especially China, perceived Korea as a 'country of wonderfully nice people in the East.' This epithet says something about the Koreans' traditional esteem for decorum, courtesy and propriety. Indeed, it is certainly true to say that Koreans are known to be very polite and friendly people Their hospitality is acclaimed around the world.
